How does The Real Review ensure objectivity during the tasting process?

The Real Review maintains strict guidelines and criteria for evaluating wines.

The Real Review conducts blind tastings, usually in flights of 24 wines of the same style, grape variety or blend. While our reviewers are aware of the category they are sampling, such as cabernet sauvignons and Bordeaux blends, they are unaware of the specific wines being assessed. This helps to eliminate bias and ensures that each wine is judged solely on its own merit.

Conducting blind tastings and ensuring that our reviewers are unaware of the wineries that are subscribing members help maintain the objectivity of The Real Review's evaluations to the highest degree.

Our tasting team consists of highly qualified and award-winning professional tasters with more than 100 years of combined experience in judging prestigious international and local wine competitions. Having a background in wine competition judging is a key aspect of our tasting team at The Real Review.

The 100 point scoring system used by The Real Review is standardised and transparent, allowing for consistency in ratings across different wines. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of objectivity and integrity in their tasting process.
